I tried to catch a pick with the kids, but it's hard to get all of them to look at the camera! I like visiting places with good props for fall pictures!
We stopped by the ETHOS Science 2 Go Bus first. They had a snake and activities inside.
There was even a bearded dragon! It's always neat to explore the various technology components and hands-on activities within the Science 2 Go bus.
With costumes on, we tromped from place to place around the garden. This walk was more candy focused, though the setting was very nice! They even got honey sticks from the resident bee keeper!
The colors were gorgeous and small elements along the trail made it nice to snap a picture! We loved seeing the Elkhart City Aquatic Biologist with fish from the nearby river. This is always a good stop at various events.
After the trick-or-treating, there was a program by Lake Milton Raptor Center, showcasing seasonal birds. We met a screech owl, Spectacle owl, Barn Owl, crow, turkey vulture, and a few more. It was great to see another Indiana Master Naturalist there helping with the birds!
They told us all about the birds. I will say my kids are getting to know different birds better, often knowing the general questions asked of the audience. It's neat to see that they are learning and understanding the various programs we visit and studies at home. By the way, I LOVE turkey vultures! They are a bit misunderstood. Here is a book for younger children I love on them.
We had a fun morning getting outside, taking a walk in the garden, and seeing live birds up close! We will need to add it to our Fall Guide next year. Thanks, Wellfield Botanic Gardens!
